Update for our house: foundation wall is still not started, more delays as usual! Therefore the February stamp camp may be delayed longer. I am not liking everything placed everywhere and in boxes and under plastic while contstruction is still going on! I can't find anything!!!!! I will keep you posted as we get things done,

I know it has been a while since I have posted, I am sorry! We had a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and have been working hard on our house all along! I am starting to focus more on stamping so I will try and post more soon! As well as pictures of Christmas?
I hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year also and I look forward to getting back to posting and stamping! Of course the house will need work also, so I will try and fit it all in somehow

This scallopped background was made with masking the reverse of the scallop die and sponge and stamp to create the background!

Here is our house now, the siding is almost done. Now you have no excuse on why you miss our house even without the TYVEK on the addition. It does look very nice in person, I can't wait for you all to see it!
We had just finished the siding on Tuesday, took the lift back wednesday and Wednesday night was when the flood hit! At least the siding didn't get hurt in the flood and at least we were done and didn't have to worry about more work than we had to at that point! Of course the lift probably would have been better staying at our house cause were we took it back to in Owego got flooded, we could have saved it!
The truck and trailer in the picture is our neighbors on the other side of the road from us, they got hit with the river water and wanted to try and save all their vehicles, and you know us, always helping who and what we can!
of course this picture of the house done was taken in the flood, you can see how we had a huge pond in our side yard.

Here is a lot of what we have been up to this summer already! It has been busy and at the same time we had to deal with a lot that we didn't want to do! In between me feeling so much like crap and being in so much pain, this is the fun we tried to have! As you know, life does not stop when you don't feel good!

We did make a trip to boston also a week after I had surgery, I will work on those pictures soon!

Sorry there are no stamping ideas for you, life has not allowed any of that fun yet, maybe soon I can show you some of what I have been doing and am in love with!

Dog's need a bath???

Last night Michael wanted to give Cocoa a bath as she stinks from her pool and then goes and rolls in the dirt, but of course as soon as you mention bath Bella hops right in!!!! So he let her stay and tried to wash them both at once! As I was sitting ont he couch, still recovering I heard a lot of "no, you need to stay in the bath, you're not done yet" it was so funny, each one wanted out at different times, I don't know how he get them done, but I loved that he had the patience to wash them both at once!

Our house was sparyed down well after their baths!!! Does anyone know what I mean by that? Of course first to get sprayed was me as they came to the living room to shake off! Thank you Bella and Cocoa!

House work!

House work never seems to end when your building, but I finally got the guys working!!!! Their first project of the summer is to put on the deck from our bedroom to the ground, just in case!!! I hope we never have to use it but it is required by our town!

You can't ever get away form our dog, we swear she is such a people person!!!! Here Dad is working on the stair stuff! So glad they got the deck framed and deck floor on in one day. Since then Michael is working (in his spare time) to do the railing, at this point as of today, we just need to attach the stairs and it will be done!!!! YAY, now onto the siding!!!! But we have some work to do before that really starts!

Even Jacob got in on the action when they were down, Jacob is wanting to work more, so I think he had fun learning?

Sugarland concert!

By the time we finally got to where we had to be Katelin was tired out and I was sore, so here we are just hanging out catching our breath. We were in the pit, which means if we pushed and shoved we could have been right at the stage, but of course we hung out at the back of those crazy people!

Here is those crazy people pushing and shoving to get right at stage!!! Katelin loved all the songs and knew more than she thought she would! We went to the middle of the stage to get to see the big screen in all it's glory, Katelin thought that was really cool!

See, she did love it, and even has on her new Sugarland shirt on! She is in the middle of the stage area just singing away, she wouldn't dance with me or another friend we met that night! So we danced just to get the dirty looks from Katelin, she didn't really do that, but she did have fun singing along!

That was a long night, and we had to walk up this long long hill at the end, but we made it, then we left early to get a start in the traffic, at least that is what Katelin wanted to do, sometimes it amazes me on what she thinks and wants to do! I think we only missed 2 last songs?

Katelin performed in the Flag Day ceremony at school! Of course right when her performance was to start it started to rain, so they went to the cafeteria to play and they did an awesome job!

Hi All,
it has been a long time since I have updated my blog and I am sorry. Life has just been to crazy and busy as I was having a lot of medical issues and come to find out they were all related to a fibriod and one of the worst kinds! Go figure! So I had my hysterectomy earlier than I first wanted to so that I could be relieved of all the pain I was having. So now after surgery I am feeling better but will still take a while on some of the issues as it is related to low blood count and will take a while to ge tthat back up. Luckily I was not low enough to need a transfusion, I am just on more meds to try and raise it faster. The side pain I had so bad seems to be dissappearing already which is good because that was so hard to deal with everyday! Mostly it is the surgery pain I am dealing with now and the swelling, but as the swelling is going down I am feeling more of the surgery pain. So I rest as much as I can since I have nothing pressing to do and I also do get up and walk around or find something to putt around with, but mostly do nothing. As many of you know that is hard for me not to be multitasking so it is a good thing the pain meds are keeping me so tired that I really don't feel like doing anything other than napping. So since I have nothing to do, I will be uploading all the pictures I have taken lately and you can be updated on what else has been going on since life just didn't stop for me when I was hurting! So maybe see you in a day or 2 with some updates. Till then, enjoy your summer weather we are having!!!!

Here is the project for May, you get to make 2, 1 of each design, then you have 1 for you and 1 to share, hope you can make it, the girls in NJ loved them so I know you will also! Make great picture frames or can add magnet to the back and put the frames on your fridge!
Technique is the inlaid embossing technique, so easy but great looking at the same time, hope you can make it for this technique also!

Happy Easter everyone, I hope you enjoyed the holiday! We drew on the driveway a few days before, and unfortunately it rained, but the Easter bunny found us anyway!
So since I wrote the above note, Katelin wrote this note, does she try to suck up or what????

The Easter bunny had a hard job hiding all the eggs around the house, can you help her find them in these pics??? Oh and notice, the NEW furniture too! We just love it but have found out that it attracts the dog hair, but I won't take it back, we can live with vacuuming everyday right?

so cute right? this is what I get when she just wakes up and yes, I had to wake her up to see if she wanted to see what the Easter bunny brought, she enjoyed everything and even got concert tickets to see Sugarland in June. Then as we did as kids, we had to hide the eggs a few more times, then we watched movies and then went to the movies to see Rio. It was funny, and a great way to spend the day!

Went to the cake Boss, but there was such a line that we didn't wait the 2 1/2 hours to buy something, so instead Katelin and I went in and took pics and saw the inside. Then we went next door to eat and head home! The last of our NJ vacation!

Katelin decided that today 3/27/11 that the dogs really needed a bath! And of course I woke up with a terrible head cold, so I only want to lay around and drain my head, but I had to help brush cocoa, which we have enough hair now for another large dog!!!! then she got them in the tub! She washed them both, but I had to help Bella get into the tub, she wasn't sure she needed a bath, but then she did hop in by herself, so Katelin asked if I wanted to take pics! well of course I do, so here you go to enjoy also! Katelin does love to love her doggies and love to take care of them! She is a very big helper!!! I guess I will still continue to keep her!

I just love my hubby and how much he wants to do for me! He created this all by himself, of course it took him about 2 hours, but it is all his own work! I am thinking he didn't clean the stamps though afterward, but I can deal with that! The brad in the middle was a clasp as he has inside coupons for me! He had inside a coupon for the ice cream cake I wanted that he forgot.... don't ask, but I didn't kill him for not having it her Christmas morning. He did go out the next day for it and guess what???? got all the other groceries but the cake, so funny so then he had to go back out again and I finally got my cake! (maybe had something to do with blocking my gall bladder? I didn't tell the dr that part!)
There was also another coupon that he would pay $100 towards my new Iphone, so I got my new Iphone New Years Eve night, and I love it!!!!! Got the Iphone 4 on sale with an upgrade! Now everyone at work is jealous!
He also put in the inside a nice long note of how much he loves me and blah, blah, blah....
Now I am sure you are jealous too that you didn't get coupons in a homemade card huh? Sorry ladies!

Because of everything I am dealing with right now I know I can't do the stamp camps as usual but instead of cancelling it altogether and I miss another month of seeing my friends I am only going to have the Sat date, which is Feb 12th from 10-3. And since it is such hard work to put the camp together we will just be doing 5 cards, but you will love them all I promise! I am hoping later this week I can feel better and get to designing what I have in my head. We will be using products from the new mini as well as the sale-a-bration catalog. I will be sending out the e-mail for that camp soon, I hope?

Just wanted to share a quick update of what's been up lately.
You may not believe it but it has not been quiet here! but what else is new
A couple weeks ago I was getting sick to my stomach and some of the worse pain in my life, then over a week ago I was very sick everytime after I ate, so I went to the dr, she sent me for blood work but all my friends were saying it sounded like gall bladder issues, so I waited on the bloodwork because I knew they would do it later when I was in pain again, so friday the 14th I woke up in extreme pain at 3 in the am and Michael and I decided at 4 am to call an ambulance since I didn't think I could drive myself to the hospital and we didn't want to wake Katelin up for Michael to drive me in. Well I was there till 6:30 at night that day and had many many tests, pokes and prods and was told I had gall bladder that needed to be removed, an ovarian cyst and fibriods. So they sent me home with pain meds and nausea meds and if it got worse over the weekend then to go right back to ER and they would take out the gall bladder or if I could wait till Monday morning they would schedule the surgery for later that week.
Well as my luck has it Sunday my friend was visiting Katelin and I and Michael was with the boys in syracuse and finally I asked my girlfriend if she would drive me to the hospital I was in so much pain! We left here about 2:30 and luckily my girlfriend Tina was on her way to visit me also so she kept Katelin for me. We called Michael on our way to let him know what was going on also. Once at the ER again, they took me right in and got the pain under control, which took hours! because they were having a hard time with my nice small viens to get an IV in and draw blood also. So the surgeon was called and he was not on duty so they said they would admit me and do surgery monday, but his partner came and said he could do the surgery as soon as I wanted. Of course I was done with the pain so I said yes please can we get this done! Little did I know what I was getting into!!!!!
So not only was I being asked questions for the admitting process they were also prepping me for surgery. Luckily right before the surgeon came in Michael got there, so he was there for all the talking and explaining. They wheeled me back for surgery by like 8:30 and I know I woke up and was just wheeled back to my room at 11 pm. I was in such severe pain I guess Michael was laughing at me, not really but I am sure he wanted to. Just kidding, he was very caring and concerned. Well when I came to my shoulder hurt like hell and they said it was the gas stuck so Michael moved my shoulder around for me for like an hour and the pain from the surgery was just too much. I know I was yelling in pain, Michael said it was more like a whisper all the way back to the room. It was so hard at first but the nurses were just great! I met with the dr and asked him if he took it out with his bare hands as that is what it felt like, but he said no. So I came home at 4 that afternoon and spent the next 3 days on the couch. After the second day I developed quite a cough and coughed so hard for 5 hours that night instead of sleeping. From that I was even in more pain! So now I am on pain med and mucinex and it is keeping the coughing at bay, good thing!!!!
I did get to try and do the stairs to get to my bed so I have been sleeping in my bed again the last 2 nights. KAtelin gave me that goal every day to try and go up and down stairs. She has been such a helper through this you wouldn't believe all she is doing to make sure I can just lay around and be comfortable. I told her when I get better I will take her for a day of shopping and spoil her, she is just that good! Michael is helping an awful lot too, I feel like such a burden at times! And the poor man had to deal with the crying last night as I was upset it is taking so long to feel even half way better. So today he chilled with me on the couch which was so nice! I am so truly blessed with my family and also with my friends! I am keeping up to date status's on facebook if you want to find me there, Cathy Betkavsky Maltby.
I am slowly each day getting better but progress is slower than I thought it would be! The dr has me out of work for all this next week also, he must know I love to lay around! not!
I had it laproscopicly and have the 4 holes glued shut.
Just wanted to let you know why you have not herard from me, and as this is the longest now that I have sat here at the computer I need to go and lay down again.

Christmas cut out cookies

A tradition in our house is making cookies for Christmas, Katlein always request we make the same as last year. Well mom doesn't have a brain anymore so she creates what she wants and what everyone loves. So cut out cookies is Katelin's favorite, but we did find out this year that most all the cookies we made were Katelin's favorites!

Yes, she really is having fun, she even told her friend she couldn't go play cause she was making cookies, way to give me a huge mental hug huh!

We did make 2 or 3 batches of these to get us through the holidays! Way too many other kinds of cookies to try and remember, I did lots of baking this year. I did try a lot of them for the first time and for the most part they all came out great, I think the only bummer was the poppy sead kalochkis but the nuts ones were oh so yummy!

YES, I know, I am a little late in posting this but I still wanted to get it out there. Here is our tree search at Arcadia tree farm in PA, first we had to look for the perfect one, which was very hard, cause they all looked great!
Now we found this one, can we get it?

But dad has to cut it down, everything is a tradition here!

and of course they watch with awe!

and we always drag it out, even though this year they had buggies for us, we said no thank you!

The funniest part was that the guy holding the tree asked Katelin to step on the button on the ground, so she did, but it scared her as a drill or something started and vibrated her. We laughed so hard! Of course we did, you know us!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all! Katelin thought she didn't believe in santa, but she did put out cookies and milk and wrote santa a note to thank him for the gifts. Oh and put out carrots for the raindeer. She was so excited to come see what Santa did leave her. We did have to wake her up at 8 am however, must have been tired! She loved seeing her new snowboard since he didn't wrap that and then had fun opening and opening gifts! She loves it all, even the clothes and pjs! She did ask santa for those in her note too. She mostly loves her new ipod touch (she had one but damaged it) and of course the snowboard.
I hope you all can enjoy a great Christmas and holiday season. I have heard from some friends and have heard some sad news and some great news, the best is one of my friends being engaged!
I had a hard time getting ready for Christmas as I miss my mom but today is the best seeing Katelin so happy and all of her excitement just in waiting for today!

Tomorrow I will feel whole again and have a laptop I can actually download pics to and then send them here! I bet you can't wait huh? I also have a new data disk for my camera so now all I have to do is find my camera and I can take the pics I can upload to hear!

It all sounds amazing huh....

it is to me cause it has been a long time now that I have been without these things that we now think are basic!

now off to find that camera, it has to be here somewhere??? I knew I should have added a new camera to the credit card today, then I would have more free time instead of searching, oh wait there wouldn't be any free time as I would be playing with the new camera and not doing what else I am suppose to be doing.

To say the least we have been very busy here at the Maltby household! We took out the wall in the living room and put a beam in its place, then we had to sheetrock which we are hoping all the sheetrock is now hung for the entire house project we have been working on for the past 2 years, now is my job of mudding and taping, yuck! But I would rather do it than pay someone else again after the luck we had! Not only have we been busy with the house but with back to school and all that brings it has been busy and to add Stampin to the mix, it is just so busy. But I did steal a night last weekend to go shopping on an overnight with 2 of my Bff's and we had a blast, it was so needed and so much fun! Also got the pumpkin farm out of the way last weekend after coming home sooooo tired, but we did it! Now we will look forward to Halloween where I need to find my papers from the open house night from school so I can see what I signed up to bring for their party. Did I say it never ends? This weekend is another weekend of working on the house and trying to get the stampin stuff cleaned up so we can make a mess again next weekend! Now if I can just find what Michael did with that calgon I asked for?????

Hi All
here finally is the last designed card for the sept camps! I hope you like it but it is so cute in person!

There is also some confusion on the volunteering for the food for camps. I only need 1 person per camp date to supply a snack for a free camp class, that makes 3 volunteers for the month. Thanks for those that are offering to help with that!

Katelin the builder

since we had to build the wall for Katelin's room, we thought it only fitting that she helped and what a helper she was too! We may be able to send her to your house to help you for a fee???? LOL. She was a trooper and even vacuumed when we were done. We did put up the sheetrock also the same day. The next day I took our door off our room and put it on her wall and then I put our new door on our room. So I hope that is done for now. We still have more sheetrock to do in the house so of course her wall is not spackled yet. But she does have her privacy now and she is loving it! I bet Michael is too cause we always had him shut off his light in his office so she could go to bed so now he can work longer in the night.

I so love making these frames! So I made them for my family to add to our new staircase wall. It will be our first decor on the staircase! I am so excited to say the least! I might even make frames for all the kids names to add to it, and maybe one for Michael and I?

First Day of Fourth grade!

Katelin loves to give me the look when I get the camera out to annoy her. She did a good job of helping to pack her own lunch after she made her own breakfast of pancakes.
She was excited even though the night before was tears of nervousness.
Oh and the flowers were from Michael, not sure if they were for me and the happiness that she was going back or if I was sad that she was going back?

she did pose for me as I told her there is always a pic of her in the dining room for her first day, so she did let me have that one.

They were nervous when they saw a new bus and a new driver, but I guess all went well

After she got home she was excited and liked her teacher, Mr Steflik. I think she was more excited cause she said she needed to take her flute the next day. So the first week went well, but I know it won't last long!

I hope all the other mommies out there had a good first week also!

This is the project for this month, I also have saved another frame that says friend, but I can't find it right now! So when I do find it I will post it here. I am making one that says Maltby and then having pics of our family in it! Wouldn't this be a nice gift for anyone in your family? The frame is included in the project camp cost of $10.

Our trip to Whiteface Mountain

Finally got to our campsite and set up after a long 5 1/2 hour trip, we stayed right at the base of whiteface at wilmington notch state park, very small campground that stayed very quiet. The first night it rained after we got set up and getting ready for bed, so that was ok, but the last night it was so windy all night!!! We also had a 7 year old boy, Josh, come over and play ladder bal with the kids the ast night.

Katelin and I were just waiting for the boys to leave on their adventure to hike a mountain and then we went driving around to check out the sights and then to play miniture golf.

the boys hiking their mountain, didn't make it to the top but they gave it their best shot, then they were exhausted when they got back as they were gone for at least 8 hours with their dad

next day we went to the top of whiteface, as soon as we started to up the mountain Katelin said she was scared and didn't want to go, but we made it nad enjoyed it up there, of course it was windy, we were on the top! we did hike the trail to the very top but then on the way back down Katelin wanted to take the elevator and experience that so just Katelin and I did that and was in the center of the mountain. She then liked the water in the mountain so she let it drip on her hand and then said she was never going to wash her hands again cause she had mountain water on her hands. So funny. We then stopped close to the top of the mountain still and found a picnic table to sit and have lunch

After the mountain we went back to the beach of mirror lake and Katelin swam and we hung out for a little while

then went and the kids and dad played mini golf, Katelin just wanted to do that again. All had a great time and I think Dad won.

That pretty much ends our vacations, other than Katelin and I camped for a week at the Harford fair and worked the Stampin Up booth there everyday with Tina Sieben. Had so much fun and also with our great friend Kathy Guinan, so glad I got to spend the week with these great friends! Katelin got to have her friend also come down for a coupe days with us also and they had fun riding the rides and hanging out together. My Dad came down Friday with all Katelin's cousins and they went walking around and then all riding the rides and I got to have time with my Dad, that was great! Before Katelin left to go to her Dad's she wanted her face painted so we did that, I will need to get that pic from Tina so you all can see her puppy face, it was so cute!

Our Maine trip

Michael and I got to sneak off without kids the 1st weekend of August for a trip to Maine for our annivesary and my birthday. All I wanted to do was to eat seafood and be at the beach, but we did a little more than that.

Our first day we did find the beaches in Kennybunk, the water was cold, but the sun was nice

Here Michael is looking for the crabs on the shore, so many kids were also looking, as Micahel would find them he would give them away

doesn't this look like fun, how do you like my attire? We went and drove to the top of mount washington and man it was so cold, it was 36 degree's up there so I had on my hodie and my new coat I just got the day before, I guess I knew what I was in for huh? It was also so windy so we went in to see what the wind speed was and found out it was only 18 mph, we could have sworn it was so much worse! We also saw a couple getting pics done outside right after they were married and heard there was another wedding also. It was a very vice view but so cold that we didn't stay long

we went to buy some lobsters to bring home and here I am petting an 8 poun lobster, it was huge. This is Newicks a great place to eat, we loved it and only 10 minutes form our hotel

Here with Michael's mom as we all enjoyed the lobster feast when we got home! Katelin was shocked when I had her open the bag with the losters in it, but it was so fun not to warn her fist. Of course Katelin didn't eat any!

So I have been told I have not posted in a loooonnnnggg time, so I wanted to update that we are all alive and well, wel except for Katelin's fair fish, but what do you expect? We have had such a fun summer of vacations and camping that I will post the pics of our trips first, here first we have our trip to Old Forge for Katelin's bierthday, we stayed in 8th lake State Park

at the end of the trip they all wrote in the sand that they were there with their initials, it was so cute

isn't it funny that our house number is the same??? Katelin took this pic, isn't she so good!

Katelin took this pic too, I think this was our last night and the lake was a very short walk from our site so the kids loved hiking to the dock or to the shore

our security through old forge, just kidding, he is at the water safari where the kids had fun for a day but it was cold and windy so they wanted to hide in the water all the time. The wave pool and the lazy river were the top pics for our kids

here they are waiting for the water safari, but we had to finish cleaning from breakfast first

so glad to see happy smiles!

YUMMO! this was our chocolate bar made just for us stampers, we were treated like queens huh! and yes we got to be first in line for some reason?

we loved the chocolate fountain! Kelly our girlfriend in Jersey lost a strawberry down in there, of course we had thoughts of digging in to find it but we didn't

Here are some mre jersey girls, of course there is Kelly and then there is Lindy, another funny girl and then sue on the right! We all sat at the same table and did nothing but joke and had fun!

These are fountains at the short hills mall, we saw them from the second floor and thought they were cool and threw money in them till we saw the dign saying not to throw change form the second floor, good thing we didn't get kicked out! we laughed so hard after we threw them and then saw the sign.... leave it to us!

I made it into the hole in the center of the globe twice and Tina missed and hit it and it bounced, then we saw the sign of course!!!!

Me and my friends, ok just 2 friends, but we saw many friends in NJ and had so much fun with them. You may know Tina, and next to her is our friend Kelly from Jersey and so much fun to hang with

Tina and I fought over our pics with Shelli the co-founder and CEO of Stampin Up! But we got through it just fine! Don't you love Shelli's pj's, a girl from Jersey made them for Shelli and Dawn and then made us all a rag bag, yes I said all 105 of us!

OMG, this photo was so funny to take, you had to be there to see me try to figure out how to sit and do this pose at the same time, I thought Tina was going to pee her pants watching me struggle

Ok, so we didn't stamp much, I know you all will be dissapointed to not see what we could have made, but we also had fun after the event with our new friends from further east NY, OMG we laughed so hard with these girls! And stayed up till almost 2, so was not expected!

So after being up that late we did all make it up the next am early morning to stamp again, or to start stamping for some of us.... and then before we all went our separate ways we went to this diner for breakfast, another good time had by all!
